Why Board & Train Works

some dogs need immersion – consistent daily structure, controlled exposure, and professional handling to break old patterns and build new ones. Our Board & Train program delivers that in a simple, repeatable process tailored to your dog’s temperament.

Who this is for

  • Busy owners who want professional hands-on help
  • Dogs that need to be neutral in public
  • Severe reactivity or fear
  • Dogs with no structure or household boundaries
  • Hard dogs that overwhelm their owners
  • Soft dogs that need confidence built
  • Puppies needing a jumpstart

What we do

Structure

  • Day-one intake: Alex arrives to pick up your dog, get to know you both and bring your dog home with him. Then it’s all about building trust, establishing your dogs new routine and making them feel safe.
  • Your dog will learn where they’re sleeping spaces, where they eat/drink and what the general rules of the home are.
  • Their first walk will happen after they settle. Then we will introduce “Yes”, “No” and “Break!” — one clear vocabulary
  • Your dog will not be put in a social playgroup or be given any freedom on the first day.

Obedience - Day 2 on

  • Heel, sit, down, place, come and load up
  • Waiting for meals and doors
  • Off-leash engagement and recall practice
  • E-collar layering, after communication is conditioned
  • Motivator building (food, play or affection; whichever one you’ve invested in the most)

Exposure

  • Public outings — a few different stores, a couple parks and one specific location of your choice
  • Neutrality training around dogs and people
  • Calm greeting behavior - if it’s good for the dog.
  • Confidence building for soft dogs
  • Boundary setting and motivator building for hard dogs

What you can expect

  • A calmer, more controlled dog
  • Better leash behaviour
  • Less reactivity
  • More confidence in new environments
  • Stronger engagement with you
  • Better household manners
  • A clear structure you can keep going at home

Common questions

How long is the program?
Most dogs stay 14 days. Behavioural cases sometimes need longer, and we will tell you after the intake and the day-one assessment rather than guessing up front.
Do you update owners during training?
Yes — video updates over WhatsApp, we send 3 per week.
Will my dog listen to me afterwards?
That is the point of the handover. You get a 90-minute session teaching you the same communication your dog has been learning, one 60-minute follow-up, and a 30-day text support window.
Do you take aggressive dogs?
Case by case. Fill in the intake form and tell us plainly what has happened, including any bites. We would rather turn a dog away than take one we cannot keep everybody safe around.
